I have put my own template for invoice but I am getting 4 decimal points. I want only 2.

Answer :

To set 2 decimal place, first you need to set it in the program. Go to Setting > Setting > Default Document Setting. Select the decimal place for Currency, Quantity, Percentage and Weight. This setting will apply the decimal place on the whole program.

In the report designer, select the field that you wish to set the decimal place. Click on the “>” button on the top right corner of the field object. Then click on “…” button besides “Format String” option. On the popup setting page, select “Number” under Category, then click on “Custom” tab. Enter “$###,###,##0.00″ if you wish to set it to display 2 decimal place. If you wish to display no decimal place, then enter “$###,###,##0″, if 1 decimal place, then enter “$###,###,##0.0″.

Question:

Unable to update the software.
each time, a window pops to say that an update is available but unable to update. Please help.

Answer:

There are a few reason:

1. security setting in windows which not allow the file to be overwritten.
2. firewall or antivirus block the file downloaded or overwrite the existing file.

To solve this, we can manually download the new file from the server. Please refer to the print screen on how to download the file.

After finished download, unzip the file. Please follow the instruction in readme.txt on how to update the latest version of Xin Inventory.

Xin software must be installed (as erased by our technician), and we cannot
install again. We receive an error :

It looks like some SQL service on your client computer has not configured properly.
1. On client computer, open SQL Server Configuration Manager.

2. Enable TCP/IP.

3. Make SQL Browser to automatic mode.

4. Start SQL Browser.

Question :

I restore the database from Xin Inventory 1.0 into 2.0 and restart the Xin Inventory 2.0.
The program can not be open any more.

Answer :

You cannot restore data from Xin Inventory 1.0 to Xin Inventory 2.0 because the database structure is totally different for these 2 software.

Please do the following:
1. Uninstall Xin Inventory 2.0
2. Go to the application folder, which should be in C:\Program Files\Xin\Xin Inventory 2.0, delete all files inside folder Xin Inventory 2.0.
3. Reinstal. When it ask whether to overwrite the existing database, click yes.

I got the following error when backup Xin Inventory 2.0 database : Cannot open backup device ‘C:\Program Files\Xin\Xin Inventory 2.0\XinBackup\XinInventory.bak’. Operating System error 5 (Access is denied). BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally. We suggest you restart Xin Inventory.

Answer :

We have already installed the system and i need to know how to back the data up so that way when we have to reinstall as the system set up on a network then we will have all the date transfered.

To backup the data, please go to Setting > Backup & Restore. The backup data will be zipped in a file.  Please save the backup zipped file in a safe location.

Question :

We tested the software on stand-alone basis and were satisfied with the
options.

We wanted to run a last test of Networking to see if it was working well on
Network settings

But, after setting up the SQL and restoring the database, the Trial Period
Message indicates that Trial Period has expired. But we barely have started
testing the software one week ago.

Answer :

When you install the program on the actual server, you should have another 30 days trial period. But once you restore the database from your test computer, the trial period will be expired. This is because when you switching computer, the program detect that it was different computers and will terminate the trial period. This is one of the method we take to eliminate the illegal redistribution of the license key.

What you can do is to uninstall the program from your server, and re-install it. During the installation it will prompt to ask whether to overwrite database, choose “Yes”. Then you may continue to do the networking test and only restore the data from test computer after you purchase the license if necessary.

Question :

I love xin inventory.I have a problem with this setting. I set the currency and decimal to 2 decimals and it works and then I check my statement and the default on the statement remains 4 decimals. I would like my invoices and statements to have the same settings.

Answer :

To set the decimal place, first you need to configure it in the system.  Go to Setting > Setting > Default Document Setting :

In the Report Designer, select the number value object. Click on the “>” on the top right of the object, and set the format in “Format Setting” to “{0:$###,###,##0.00}”:

Question :

I can’t have employees creating draft invoices in the system, how can I disable this feature or change it so they cannot create one?

Answer :

Our system does not allow controlling the features per user. The security control is to control the accessibility of the user to certain page. You can set it in such way that your employee cannot access to the Invoice page total.

Please go to Setting > User Control > User Group, create a group for your employee. Click on “Accessibility” to set the accessibility for this group.

Then go to Setting > User Control > User Profile, assign this group to your employee profile.

Question :

We have just purchased a Dell Server with windows server 2008 . We want to migrate from the actual machine (laptop) to the server. There is any problem? Can you please let us know how to uninstall from one machine and install in the central server.

Answer :

To migrate to the server, please follow these steps:
1. In the old computer, go to Setting > Backup & Restore, do a full backup.
2. In the new computer, install Inventory 2.0 as “Server”.
3. In the new computer, go to Setting > Backup & Restore, restore the data done in step 1.
4. For the database, as you change the server, there are some setting need to be done on the database (Microsoft SQL Server). This is a known issue as the database setting created in old computer cannot be recognized in new computer. 5. Start the program and register it using your existing user license.
